For the past few weeks, Milan Malpensa Airport has been experiencing severe congestion in the movement of imported cargo, exacerbated both by the continuing severe pandemic situation and by serious organizational inefficiencies generated by third parties, namely some airline “ground handlers.”
In order to mitigate the impact of the inefficiencies at the Milan Malpensa airport generated by the aforementioned third parties, it has brought to the attention of the competent Authorities – through the intervention of the reference Trade Association of the Air Forwarding sector – the onerous situation so that said Authorities intervene to overcome the current criticalities, as well as is implementing a contingency plan to “divert” (where possible) part of the traffic destined for Malpensa to other HUBs and this in order to contain the delays in the management of shipments generated by the ground handlers.
